Hey, friends. Back after a wee hiatus – work and life have been busy, and it’s hard keeping up with routine. I thought I’d post a currently catch-up. It’s December! The year is winding down! It’s weird. 2015 feels like a blur.

Reading: ¬†I’ve been catching up on¬†The Walking Dead comics – I’d only read up to #120, so now I’m catching up to #145. I love the twists and turns in the story and seeing where the show goes with it as well. ¬†I’m also about to start¬†Rise of the Circle, the 3rd book in my buddy Tom Reynolds’ Meta series. If you like superhero YA fiction, it’s worth a read.

Thinking about: ¬†This year, man. It has just disappeared on us. It has been a really important year. And now 2016 is peeking its face around the corner. Everything is starting to become super Christmassy around here, even though we don’t have a tree to¬†decorate just yet. It’s so dark again (3:45pm sunsets, anyone?) and some heavy snow hit other parts of Scotland over the weekend. None for us yet, though I did get snow boots on Saturday..

Listening to: ¬†The Christmas tunes are creeping in, but in¬†all honesty I’m probably listening mostly to podcasts still. The list is below…

My favourites:

The Complete Guide to Everything
Undisclosed
Friday Night Comedy from BBC Radio 4: News Quiz
The Indoor Kids
The X-Files Files
Sword & Scale
Rhod Gilbert’s Best Bits
Criminal
The Nerdist (selectively)
The Dollop
Gilmore Guys
If I Were You

Yeah, this is a lot, but I listen all day at work! I may do a post at a later date with some more info and some suggested episodes to start people off. Podcasts are one of my top passions in life.

Watching: ¬†I’ve become a bit obsessed with¬†Flesh and Bone, a new ballet drama which is a hell of a lot darker/twistier than any ballet drama I’ve seen before. We’re also watching¬†The Man in the High Castle. Compelling stuff!

Trying: ¬†To get back into craft after a long break. I’ve bought a bunch of fabrics and sewing patterns, and plan to use my winter break to make some new dresses. I’m a slow dressmaker, but I do enjoy it, so hopefully I can get very crafty with my 2.5 weeks of freedom (and then we go to Berlin!) and also I’ve been back into cross-stitching. It’s so calming. I need some new patterns/ideas, though. Going to crack into a book a friend gave me over the weekend.

Loving: ¬†All the sparkle! As I said earlier, it’s getting so dark so early now, and the lights/festivity really break it up. January is pretty depressing when they turn them all off, but hopefully we can keep some lights up until we take our Germany trip. ¬†When do you decorate? I just love this time of year.

Celebrating: ¬†I have two weeks left at work! Then a huge break – I can’t wait for 3 weeks off. I’m going to be super lazy for one week, productive for one week, then we go to Berlin in the final week for Dave’s birthday. Woo!

Making me happy: ¬†Christmas is coming. Yes, I’m the worst Jew ever. I love Christmas! I can’t wait to enjoy all of the sparkly specialness that is on the way. And we’re hosting this year. Should be an experience!

Reading: ¬†So I haven’t read much since our honeymoon, where I devoured¬†The Royal We (so good!) and then¬†Fahrenheit 451 because Dave was all, ‘Yeah! I studied that!’ – it was good but kinda a lot to take in, too. ¬†I still have a few summer reads to get through, then I’ll be back to the neverending ASOIAF read, too.

Thinking about: ¬†How it’s September tomorrow. Like, wut. ¬†I know we say this every year, but geez, I really need to appreciate the passing time better. How is it going to be the last 3 months of the year already? How are we rapidly approaching autumn already? Time is a mystery.

Listening to: ¬†Obsessing over the new Carly Rae Jepsen album, Taylor of course, and the new Hilary Duff is fun, too! ¬†I’m also still really into podcasts, and my current favourite is If I Were You.

Watching: ¬†As well as the sun disappearing (see the epic sunset above), I’ve also just started the new¬†Fear the Walking Dead, ANTM and Project Runway are back, and D and I just completed a¬†30 Rock rewatch (sniff). I’ve also been back into Gilmore Girls because I’ve been listening to¬†Gilmore Guys, which is quite a good podcast if you fancy a rewatch.

Trying: ¬†To get back into a good routine. Since we got back I haven’t been very good at keeping everything tidy and together and organised. ¬†I’d quite like to sort out our spare room so I can get my clothes together for the upcoming season, and have more space for music and dressmaking hobbies in there.

Loving: ¬†Our garden is blooming and the hydrangeas are finally showing us some colour – we had them at our wedding and it reminds me of that. They’re also just so unique in colour. My favourite these days.

Celebrating: ¬†Making plans (nothing to share yet!) and receiving so many Save the Dates through the door for weddings next year. We’re gonna be busy. ¬†The last one is in September, and then we’ll be making plans to move. ¬†I’ll let you know about that another time.

Making me happy: ¬†I’ve been going through honeymoon photos (1st Rome post very soon!) and well, see the below. This place was magical and every time I think of it, it makes me happy. Take me back to Riomaggiore…

Watching:¬† Dave and I have been re-watching The West Wing lately, after I decided I felt like watching it again. I’d forgotten how funny it is and how much I love these characters.¬† I’ve also been into Say Yes to the Dress (even though I’ve found mine) and as always, there’s an X Files episode or two in my week. And hurray! America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway are both back in full swing.

Thinking about:¬† Wedding stuff! Of course.¬† We’re coming up on 7 months to go now (like, when did that happen – it’s been 9 months since we got engaged, and it has passed in the blink of an eye) and lots of stuff needs to be finalised. It sure is fun looking at all these options online though…

Reading:  Game of Thrones. At this rate, probably until the day I die.

Listening to:¬† The new album from The Pierces is out! Creation is fantastic and well worth a listen. While I really love Kings, Creation, and Believe in Me, I can’t stop listening to Elements at the moment. I wake up with it in my head.¬† I’m also seeing them again in a few weeks!

Celebrating:¬† I’m not sure about this one this week. It has been one of those weeks. Everything seems difficult and tough and I just want to flail my arms and lie on the couch and sulk. I guess they come around every so often. Dave has been very patient with me.

Making me happy:¬† We were very kindly given a PS3 from Dave’s brother, as he is moving back to NZ with his family (Dave’s brother is married to a Kiwi and they have 2 kids – yes, I know…) and this means I’ve been able to play FFXIII.¬† It has been many years since I’ve been able to play a new Final Fantasy game, and I’m really enjoying this one. The gameplay/battle system is fantastic, and yes. Thanks to Jamie.

Thought this might be a good start to get me back in the swing of things here.

Watching:¬† Since we got back, we’ve been catching up on so much TV.¬† We had a lot of Game of Thrones to catch up on, and I’ve spent most of my free time since we got home catching up on silly shows like Friends With Better Lives (already cancelled, just as I was starting to enjoy it) and Bob’s Burgers (always a firm favourite) but also old stuff I still haven’t finished like Breaking Bad.¬† Sometimes it’s nice being a homebody, and my first 2 work weeks were so stressful, it was good to just chill in the evenings.

Thinking about:¬† Summer plans – I have many. Most of them involve getting off my ass more, getting in the garden on the weekend to relax instead of on the couch, and eating better.¬† We’re also working on seeing people more often, with some dinner plans already.

I’ve been doing alright with the eating better.¬† I’m also trying to be more organised, and cleaner. I’ve got a new coffee machine, which I love, and it’s nice being sort of together in the mornings by having a coffee made as I leave the house.¬† I’m also trying really hard to keep the house together, but I need to try harder. It’s a mess this week.

Reading:¬† I’ve gotten really into ASOIAF book 3, and I’m about to finish that. Dreading some of the more important plot points, though.¬† Tragedy is never far away.¬† I’m also reading the BtVS and Walking Dead comics.

Celebrating:¬† Friends of ours had their wee baby Meriel last week and I made her this cross stitch. She is just beautiful and we’re all pretty excited. Another friend is due in July, so I get to cuddle lots of babies this summer. Always good.

Making me happy:¬† Last night I went to my 3rd TCGTE live show which was brilliant as always, and took Helen along with me. They put my name on the door because I’ve helped them out by delivering posters, etc, and because I run a Quotes account and Tumblr (I am such a geek).¬† It was really great fun and you should get it if you’re into podcasts. They’re funny and genuinely just good people.

How’s you? Hope all is well.
