‘Cause I’m mad as hell

Standard

Back in 2003, the Dixie Chicks exerted their right to freedom of speech and expressed negative views about Bush and his war.

Their CDs were burned and trashed.

Their songs were removed from radio play.

Natalie Maines received more than one death threat.

Their new single, Not Ready to Make Nice, responds to this, and responds to it bloody well. If you wish to watch the impressive video, go to http://www.dixiechicks.com and click on the link. It’s truly a great video.

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge!
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better
Shut up and sing
Or my life will be over!

That section of the song has been in my head for days. Good on them. It must have been so hard to see people reject them over expressing their opinion.

I’ve pre-ordered the new CD.
